Geography & Indigenous Studies Programs Database

The Geography and Indigenous Studies Programs Database an interactive map of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada that offer both Geography and Indigenous Studies programs. These schools provide a support system to native students who wish to pursue Geography degrees.

One challenge for Native students is the need to find safe places to pursue a Geography degree. Safe places are colleges and universities that have an active Indigenous Studies program, cultural center, or other organization or support system in place to help them stay connected to their traditional communities and provide mentorship assistance. Often, colleges and universities also need to be geographically accessible to students (i.e. commutable or within their home state for purposes of in-state tuition).
