I am a Geographer who specializes in the application of mapping and geospatial technology in archaeology. I received a dual major bachelors degree in Geography and Anthropology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010. I earned a masters degree in Geographic and Cartographic Science from George Mason University. My masters thesis used modern mapping technologies and landscape analysis to recreate Charles Lindbergh's historic flight of over the Yucatan peninsula in 1929 in an attempt to identify the ancient Maya structures he and archaeologists Oliver Ricketson and Alfred Kidder observed and recorded.
Upon graduation I became a Research Associate for the American Association of Geographers, a non profit membership association for professional and academic Geographers. After several years there I had the opportunity to return to archaeology when I was hired by the Montana State Historic Preservation office and the Montana Historical Society. There I helped maintain the more than 65,000 historic and archaeological records. It was a truly wonderful experience and I absolutely fell in love with the state, however, unexpected circumstances brought me back to Virginia where I am now a GIS Specialist at Dovetail Cultural Resource Group.
